Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Great game use on this Black Hawks gamer worn by left wing Dan Vincelette during the 1988-89 season. Features over 20 team repairs, this classic red game-worn jersey is photo-matched to specific marks on the numbers on both sleeves. Gunzo’s logo screened on the left rear tail and evidence of a former nameplate indicate that this hammered beauty was recycled for Vincellete’s use during the only season he wore the number with Chicago. CCM logo is embroidered in red, black and white on the right rear tail, discolored Maska tagging sits in the back of the neck and the fight strap is intact. Vincelette is listed as having worn #20 in 1988-89, the only year he did so. Although it is believed the Hawks stopped wearing sets with "Gunzo's" on the tail in 1987-88, photo evidence from the following season shows players in game action, some wearing uniforms with the screened supplier logo and others without.
The photo-matches include the two diagonal slashes on the right sleeve, and on the left sleeve, the greenish marks on the upper part of the 2 and the black marks on the lower part of the same sewn on white and black double-twill number.
A four-inch long horizontal sewing fix is among the three team repairs on the front tail. Other team repairs include a pair on the top right corner of the left breast, one on the front of the top of the left sleeve, nine on the back of the left sleeve, eight on the back of the right sleeve, and one more vertical sewing fix down from the bottom edge of the first “E” on the sewn on nameplate.
More game wear includes a nice big diagonal slash mark featured among several black marks on the front tail, with more marks on the sleeves as well as a few on the “0” on the back. The front tail exhibits some reddish-brown stains and there are board burns on both sleeves, including one with red paint transfer on the bottow white stripe on the back of the left sleeve.
