Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
From tough and talented d-man Rick Ley, originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, would spend 4 seasons in TO before jumping to the WHA New England Whalers where the Orillia-born star would become captain and ultimately have his jersey hanging from the Hartford Civic Center rafters. Offered is Rick’s Whalers jersey from the 1977-78 campaign, a road green Wilson durene beauty used sparingly during ’77-78 as the team often wore mesh Stall and Dean jerseys. The tag in the collar is gone although the outline remains, and the jersey, with a heavy canvas loop-style fight strap, shows a scattering of marks throughout, with a solid team repair on the back, inside pilling, and with puckering on the Rick’s back number “2”. Dandy gamer from a very fine player. Comes with two LOA's.
