Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
A member of the historic Rat Portage and Kenora Thistles teams, William "Billie" McGimsie helped Kenora, the smallest town ever to win the Stanley Cup, by scoring a goal in game two of the series against the Montreal Wanderers in 1907. His flowing signature is on a 3” x 5” index card with a handwritten notation at the bottom reading as “Winning the Stanley Cup 1907”. The card, that comes with a Classic LOA, remains in excellent condition, as is the 8 ½” x 10 ½” newly-printed photo of Mr. McGimsie in his Kenora Thistles uniform and a 2 ½” x 3 ½” HOF card. Inducted into the HOF in 1962, McGimsie passed away in 1968.
