Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
A very rare embossed Spalding logo puck with “HAA” and “1904” engraved on it is featured in this lot that also includes a 1934 Spalding puck and a 1904-05 Harvard team picture. According to our consignor, the scarce embossed Spalding logo puck was purchased by him in the early-2000s from a gentleman who had received the puck in the early- to mid-1980s from an elderly gentleman, who’d had the puck for many years. The elderly gentleman had been told that the “HAA” neatly etched on the puck along with the year “1904” stood for Harvard Athletic Association. Fascinating piece has rounded and smoothed chipped edges. The second Spalding puck has beveled edges and is dated March 27, 1934 with the result of a Boston Bruin Cubs-Philadelphia Arrows game handwritten in white. Included is a vintage 1904-05 Harvard hockey team picture that had been with the embossed Spalding puck for some time, though the elderly gentleman who originally had the puck was uncertain if he received the team picture along with the puck.
The reverse of the 1934 puck has a partially torn picture of Percy Jackson with Bruin Cubs Goal written on either side in white.
