Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Brilliant gold and diamond creation commemorates the Toronto Maple Leafs’ memorable and unexpected Stanley Cup title in 1966-67. The Leafs of '66-67 sported the oldest lineup ever to win hockey’s most coveted prize, their average age being 31 and bolstered by the likes of Bower (42), Stanley (41), Kelly (39), Sawchuk, Armstrong, Pronovost and Horton. Toronto hit its stride in the playoffs, beating regular season champ Chicago in six and then knocking off defending Cup champion Montreal in the finals. Leafs captain George Armstrong scored into an empty net to send Toronto fans into hysterics for the fourth time in six years and Dave Keon was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. This “Stanley Cup Champions” gold ring was presented to a member of the Maple Leafs who won in 1966-67 but was not part of the three straight wins from 1962-64 as evidenced by the “Toronto ‘67” designation on the right shank. The left shank displays a raised image of the Stanley Cup. A big diamond is set in the middle of a maple leaf on the tableau of this beauty that weighs in at approximately 18 grams with “Birks 10K” stamped inside the size 9 1/4 band. Very nicely preserved championship ring from the Maple Leafs’ last Stanley Cup win has light surface scratches and marks. Comes with an LOA.
