It’s the most important card of the 1910 Imperial Tobacco C59 100-card lacrosse set, #97 from the legendary Newsy Lalonde, graded by PSA as a nice EX-MT 6, a Pop-1 with none graded higher. Only 12.38% of the 1,066 cards from that set submitted to PSA received PSA 6 grading, in the top 16.6% of all cards submitted from that set. This lacrosse rookie card was issued the same year as his 1910-11 Imperial Tobacco C56 hockey rookie card. Newsy had 29 goals and 30 PIMs in 11 games with the Montreal Nationals the previous 1910 season, good for 1st place on the top ten scorers list of that year. Edouard "Newsy" Lalonde was chosen in 1950 by a panel of Canadian sports journalists as the greatest lacrosse player of the first-half of the 20th century, and as a fitting, final tribute to his career, Lalonde was an obvious choice for the initial inductees to the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1965 in the "field player" category. Lalonde is also a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, elected in 1950, and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.
