This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Great grouping of five of Larry Hillman's 1960s Maple Leafs CCM Custom Pro game-used sticks includes one from the last Stanley Cup season in 1966-67 and a pair of Allan Stanley sticks Hillman used as gamers. The two Stanley sticks have the deceased HOFer's tape jobs on the knob but Hillman's longer tape jobs on the blade. There are two Hillman gamers, including one from the 1967-68 season with Stanley among a few remaining legible team autographs. Also includes a circa mid-1960s stick with Duane Rupp's surname stamped on the shaft that was likely used by Hillman. Comes with Larry Hillman's signed LOA. Stanley’s bold blue ballpoint signature is the best of the signatures that remain legible on Hillman’s 1967-68 Maple Leafs team-signed stick. Of the 17 or so mostly faded autographs we can still make out those of the late Tim Horton, fellow HOFers Dave Keon and Norm Ullman, as well as Wayne Carleton and Floyd Smith. “Hillman” is stamped on the shaft and his original tape job remains on the knob, but his tape job was removed from the blade.
The other “Hillman” stick that dates from earlier in the 1960s has his original tape jobs on the knob and blade and loads of red paint transfer on the shaft;
Stanley’s distinctive tape job remains on the knob of both sticks used by Hillman, with white tape strips wrapped around black bulldog tape. “1966-67 Stanley Cup Winners in 12 games” is handwritten in somewhat faded blue ballpoint on the back of the heel of Hillman’s team-signed “Stanley” stick. HOFer Red Kelly and teammate Brian Conacher’s signatures are the only two that can be made out. The other Hillman “Stanley” gamer is from the same time period, with red paint transfer on the shaft.
