Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

As far as practice jerseys go, this one is as great as it gets - an autographed practice jersey worn by HOFer Jari Kurri (inducted 2001) from the Heritage Classic Edmonton Oilers MegaStars practice held the day before the big November 22, 2003 game in which Edmonton made NHL history by hosting the league's first ever modern era outdoor game in front of a record 57,000 plus freezing fans in Commonwealth Stadium and millions more watching around the world on television. In preparation for the big game, Kurri and the rest of the "Boys on the Bus" took to Commonwealth Stadium's ice surface on November 21st for one last team practice. Like countless practices in the 1980's, coach Glen "Slats" Sather put his team through the paces… this time in a very frigid outdoor environment. The memories and old drills were recreated for the boys complete with their familiar blue and white practice jerseys, of which only one was issued for each player. This white CCM knit jersey is tagged in the neck with a CCM "Made in Canada" label in size 58, with the “NHL Centre Ice” crest on the left chest and the CCM logo and size of the jersey sewn onto the bottom left hem. Kurri’s name and number 17 are heat sealed onto the jersey with all other crests and logos sewn-on, and Jari has signed the back number in black marker which isn’t overly dark but still very clear and readable. On the inside hem is a sewn-on “Meigray” registry patch with numbers matching the enclosed LOA signed by representatives of the MeiGray Group and the National Hockey League.
