Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Sweet game-used Alan Hangsleben stick signed by Hangsleben and 15 of his 1978-79 New England Whalers teammates, including the one and only Gordie Howe and son Marty. With original white knob tape and black on the blade, this Koho shows a light crack in the middle of the shaft and a chip at the end of the blade. The shaft has been shaved down and signed by the players which include Hangsleben, the Howe's, Dave Keon, George Lyle, Andre Lacroix, Bill Dineen (coach), Ron Plumb, Warren Miller, Pierre Roy and others. The two Howe signatures in particular are clear as a bell, with all names signed with fine ink and most are clear to read. This WHA gamer shows fine game wear with marks scattered about. The 1978-79 season would be the final one for the New England squad as the franchise entered the NHL the following season as the Hartford Whalers. The WHA's Quebec, Edmonton, and Winnipeg franchises also found homes in the NHL as well.
