Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The late Pelle Lindbergh signed his early- to mid-1980s Flyers CCM game-used stick. Named to the NHL's first All-Rookie Team in 1982-83, the Swedish goalie won the Vezina Trophy in 1985 and was named to the First All-Star Team while leading Philadelphia to the Stanley Cup final, where the Flyers fell to Wayne Gretzky's Oilers in five games. His very promising career was cut short by a fatal car wreck in November 1985. "Best Wishes, Pelle Lindbergh 31" signature in lightly faded marker sits atop the heel just below where some of his white tape job up from the blade was cut off/removed. Solid game wear. Pelle’s original tape job remains on the knob with a few rows removed below where “Lindbergh” is handwritten in pencil. Misspelled “Lindberg” is stamped on the shaft which retains Pelle’s white tape job just above the paddle. Solid game use shows in black marks on the paddle and on the white tape job on the blade and red paint transfer high on the back of the shaft.
