Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The rookie card of one of the greatest switch-hitters in the history of baseball, Eddie Murray, highlights this encapsulated duo of RCs from Topps’ 1978 issue. Eddie’s card #36 is in an early PSA holder which is labeled MINT 9, with the statistics on the back revealing Murray’s impressive rookie numbers which included 27 homers, 88 RBIs and a .283 average. They added up to American League Rookie-of-the-Year honors and Eddie continued his consistent output for another two decades, joining the 500-Home Run Club and 3000-Hit Club before he was done. Meanwhile, PSA Population Report numbers reveal that just ten of over six thousand submissions of the Murray RC have ever been slabbed higher than 9. Also included here is a MINT 9 rookie card of 254-game winner Jack Morris. The PSA pop chart includes just 33 (of close to 1600 submissions) higher graded examples of card #703.
