An intriguing instant 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee collection, or interesting break-up possibilities, is offered here with a wide range of conditions represented. Five cards in early PSA holders include the key Tony Esposito RC and #24-Bobby Orr at EX-MT 6, 70-Bobby Hull and 214-Esposito AS better at NM 7 and 165-Vachon better still at NM-MT 8. Key raw cards appearing in the EX-MT to NM range include the two Orr specials, (both with diamond cuts), Howe's Mr. Hockey no number variation, all-star cards of Howe (OC) and an Espo duplicate, Phil's (numbered) #205 trophy card, 207-Plante/Hall Vezina and 231-Stanley Cup. Unmarked checklists include #31 (VG) and 132 (VG+), with 61-Howe at VG and a numbered (193) Mr. Hockey card at VG+. Two PSA-graded 4-in-1 inserts, five GAI-slabbed commons and the rest of the set are detailed below. The definitely pieced-together set looks to include a few dozen EX+ to NM cards, (some may be a tad higher), with the majority of the all-star cards and the trophy cards toward the end among them. We cannot claim uniform condition throughout though, with over 50 creased cards spotted, along with a couple of dozen with very subtle stickiness/light damage on the back. Notables are Plante and a creased low grade Esposito, with Savard RC at VG and Parent second year at VG+. Duplicate (marked) checklists are filled-in in pencil, while (removed) stamps of Berenson and Binkley are throw-ins. Additional value is in the aforementioned graded 4-in-1 inserts; Hodge-Quinn-Sanderson-Rupp is an appealing NM 7 while at EX-MT 6 is the foursome of Lacroix, Wall, Savard and Crozier. Finally, five GAI-slabbed cards have “1st graded” on their respective labels and include 25-Dallas Smith and 219-Harris AS at NM-MT+ 8.5, 23-Green at NM-MT 8, 125-Grant at NM+ 7.5 and a pair at NM 7; 36-Seiling and 57-Baun. Like we said at the top, intriguing and interesting!
