Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Highly intriguing is this ensemble of cards issued by Winnipeg's Holland Creameries and celebrating two of Winnipeg's historic hockey teams; the 1920-21 Memorial Cup champion Falcons and the senior Falcons who won the 1920 Olympic gold medal while representing Canada. Each card has a punch hole and is stamped on the back after having been redeemed, the offer on the back revealing a brick of ice cream or three "Holland Banquets" was the prize for bringing (in person!) a set of 10 to the company. A next-to-impossible short-printed card of Connie Neil is not present here, with all nine cards, including that of Hall-of-Famer Frank Frederickson and fellow Olympians Wally Byron and Bobby Benson, graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. It is the one and only "cancelled" Holland set on the PSA Set Registry and thus PSA's Number One Finest Set of All Time. An obscure regional set, the likes of which rarely surfaces, this one will be a fascinating addition to a Hall of Fame caliber encapsulated shrine.
