Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Terrific vintage ceramic plate labelled on the back as “St. Paul’s School 1928 (A Hockey Game)” and featuring the good old game being played outdoors with spectators lining the boards. Also stamped on the back is “Wedgewood – Etruria, England, along with the importers stamp and the “Wedgewood, Made in England, 3L23” markings set into the plate. This old beauty, measuring 10 ½” in diameter, is in excellent condition with only light staining on the face and some darkening and aging signs on the back. Also offered is a Cornell silk from 1912-15 featuring an illustration of a Cornell player with stick and puck, with “Cornell, Murad Cigarettes, Factory No. 7, N.Y.” at the bottom of the 3 ½” x 5 ½” vintage silk, with a logo at the top stating “The Cornell University”, Founded A.D. 1865”. This silk was cut off-centre with the normal folds from packaging, and is in otherwise very nice condition. Cornell’s hockey program began at the beginning of the 20th century and this great silk was produced just over a decade later.
