Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Early in the second season of NHL expansion, St. Louis Blues center Red Berenson became the first NHL player in 25 years to score six goals in a single game during an 8-0 Blues victory over the Flyers at Philadelphia on November 7, 1968. Only one player has accomplished the double hat-trick since, and Berenson remains the only man in NHL history to achieve the feat on the road. All six of his goals, including four in a span of 9 minutes, were scored against Flyers goalie Doug Favell; and it could have been worse - Berenson had 10 shots in total and hit a crossbar. Offered here is the very rare ticket stub to that historic game, in crisp EX+ condition; plus an original same day Press photo of Berenson scoring his first of the evening, and the following week's Hockey News, featuring Berenson and his record performance on its cover.
