Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Three wonderful and classic 1950s puzzles, all with original boxes, make up this terrific vintage lot, including a young and handsome Jean Beliveau puzzle at a time when Le Gros Bill was establishing himself as a definitive star centreman in the league. Along with the Big Jean puzzle is a 1952-53 Habs team picture puzzle with the big prize, the Stanley Cup, front and centre in all its splendour. Thirdly is the 1953 Quebec Aces team picture puzzle with a young Jean Beliveau smiling from the background, with coach Punch Imlach and players Herb Carnegie, Joe Crozier, and Gaye Stewart among others beaming at you as well. All three of these beauties measure 14" x 19", with the Aces puzzle complete and in very good to excellent condition with some colour fading, and its box showing worn edges, staining and creases. The Habs 1953 puzzle has nice and bright colouring, with four small missing pieces to note, which doesn't at all take away from the overall beauty. The box is in nice very good condition, with some wear to its corners, a few small pieces of paper missing, light surface wear and a one word "complet" handwritten on the bottom of the box. Beliveau's puzzle is complete with just a small trace of marks showing here and there, while the box is in very good condition with some creases, some wear to its edges and some surface wear and has a name handwritten faintly in pencil on the front and a touch of ink-wording written on the bottom of the box. Three dynamite and classic 1950s puzzles to love and cherish.
