Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The Detroit Red Wings were the cream of the crop in 1948-49, ending first overall with 34 wins, 7 ties, and just 19 losses for 75 points. Detroit players were honored for their fine regular season with nice 8" silver-plated mugs such as the one offered today, which belonged to Wings forward Pete Horeck, who would contribute 30 points in 60 games that season. This water pitcher is tarnished but is cleanable, and other than some light surface scratching, is in excellent condition. Inscribed on the front is "Detroit Hockey Club Inc, NHL Champions 1948-49, Peter Horeck". On the bottom is stamped "SP - copper Sheffield Reproduction".
