Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Awesome piece of Black Hawks history shows Hall-of-Famer Dick Irvin shaking hands with his Toronto counterpart, St. Patricks captain Bert Corbeau, prior to Chicago's first NHL game. The Hawks beat the St. Pats 4-1 in their November 17, 1926 debut at the old Chicago Coliseum. Irvin, who was inducted into the HOF as a player, led the 1926-27 Hawks with 36 points. His 18 goals were second only to team leader Babe Dye, who tallied 25 times in Chicago's inaugural season. This magnificent vintage period 8x10 photo is stamped on the reverse and has photo editor's marks and a tape repair in the upper left corner. Comes with a 1970 newspaper featuring the picture of the two team captains shaking hands.
