Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Absolutely spectacular 1985-86 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup trophy represents the first of HOF goalie Patrick Roy's four championships. Patrick won the Conn Smythe Trophy as a 20-year-old rookie when he led the Habs to playoff series wins over the Bruins, Whalers, Rangers and Flames to claim the bleu, blanc et rouge's 23rd Stanley Cup. Similar in every detail to the Cup trophy Roy received back in the day, this glimmering replica was made at Patrick's request for display purposes by Boffey. It stands 13 1/8" tall with "Club de Hockey Canadien 1985-86" engraved on the front of the barrel and the names of GM Savard, coach Perron and executives Beliveau and Lemaire among the staff below. Three columns at the bottom list all of the players, including Roy's fellow HOFers Gainey and Robinson, as well as the likes of Chelios, Carbonneau, Smith, Naslund, Dahlin, Tremblay, Ludwig, Skrudland, McPhee, Richer, Walter, Boisvert, Kurvers, Svoboda, Green, Gingras, Lalor, DeBlois, Momesso and Nilan. Part of the proceeds of the sale of this item will go towards the "Fond d'etudes des Remparts de Quebec". Comes with Patrick Roy's signed LOA who also apposed his signature on the bottom of the trophy's base. [red] Addendum; Also included is an 8" x 10" signed photo of Patrick Roy with seven of his trophies offered in the auction including this one.[/red]
