Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Spectacularly sleek and elegant Vacheron & Constantin 18-karat gold watch was presented at centre ice to Dennis Polonich as MVP of the 1974 "Tournoi du Salon" in Geneva, Switzerland. Playing for the 1973-74 London Lions, which toured Europe in a failed bid to establish a pro hockey league with North American ties, Polonich was amply rewarded after scoring a key goal in a 4-4 tie against Moscow Spartak. Classic Swiss timepiece with a casing made of 18-karat gold is a caliber 1001/2, movement number 650482 with 18 jewels. Watch number "463317" is stamped on the gold backplate. Wonderfully preserved in working order with proud wear showing on the leather wrist straps, this magnificent Swiss gold watch comes in its original presentation box with its original papers and Dennis Polonich's signed LOA. The Vacheron & Constantin presentation box is nicely preserved overall with handling showing in marks on the edges and sides. The finish of the cover image exhibits crazing on the top of the box’s lid.
