Awesome Ernie Higgins original creation is Serge Aubry's photo-matched 1972-73 Quebec Nordiques game-worn mask from the inaugural WHA season! Renowned for his famous Gerry Cheevers stitch mask, Higgins custom-molded this mask he made for Aubry, who wore it during the Nordiques' inaugural campaign. Originally obtained from Aubry, the mask has been matched on the left side to a photo of him wearing it while he drank from a cup of Coca-Cola while sitting on the bench in his Nordiques uniform. The vintage 8x10 shot clearly shows the distinctive shapes of the two bottom round air holes between the straps on the left side, both of which have flat portions on the right side. Three distinctive chips on the back edge between the top strap and the upper strap on the left side also clearly show in the photo match. Three modern prints of Aubry wearing the mask are included. The original cream paint job remains and this gamer comes with its original straps and interior padding, including Higgins' fiberglass backplate, and displays plenty of solid game wear. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
