Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012

"A rushing defenseman who can set up goals as well as score them" is how the write-up on the back of Bobby Orr's rookie card ends off and the phenom from Parry Sound went on to do just that, over and over again, forging his legacy as hockey's all-time greatest d-man. This example of Topps' coveted card number 35 from 1966-67 displays quite well, with some condition issues rather difficult to describe. Initially appearing crease-free, the card has very subtle vertical stress marks, only visible upon close inspection. Additionally, what looks like evidence of scrapbook removal (a shiny effect) can be spotted on the back, up and down the sides. Minor corner wear is also to note. Difficult to predict how the pro graders will deem this one, but one thing is for sure, the brush-cut Orr sure looked good as he embarked on his illustrious career. What a gift to our sport and what a card to own? a Bobby Orr rookie!
