Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Vintage caramel-toned goalie mask was manufactured in the 1960s following Jacques Plante's ground-breaking introduction of facial protection for netminders. This thick and solid beauty with "SC" decals on the inside chin is the type worn by minor leaguer goalies of the day who followed Plante's lead in protecting their noggins from the newly popular slap shot. There are a handful of chips at the mouth, nose, and temple. Straps are attached and foam padding remains on the inside left. Rounding out the retro goalie look is a leather glove from the 1940s-1950s in very good condition, with intact lining and gently used exterior.
