Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

Thought-provoking image here is that of the team made up of Montreal Maroons and Canadiens players who skated against a team of NHL All-Stars in the famous game to benefit the family of the late Howie Morenz. Played at the Forum in November 1937, nine months after Morenz's death, it helped raise $20,000 and saw the All-Stars stave off a late rally by the Montrealers and win 6-5. Side view here was taken by a Montreal Star photographer and captures Babe Siebert and Aur?le Joliat among those in the front row, with King Clancy (far left) and Toe Blake highlighting the back row. That's "mascot" Howie Morenz Jr. in front. All are identified on a paper caption affixed to the reverse of the 8" by 10" glossy, in EX condition with no unsightly flaws.
