Lovely 100+ year old antique plate features the man who donated hockey's Stanley Cup while Canada's Governor General and who returned home in July of 1893 to become the Sixteenth Earl of Derby following the death of his brother. Stanley later acted as Mayor of Preston in 1902, with this commemorative plate dated September 1902 and featuring a brownish image of Guild Hall. Earl Derby K.G. Guild Mayor is beneath Stanley's image and the 9 1/4 inches in diameter plate is in excellent condition with two tiny chips on the outside edge to be noted. Stanley would die six years later at age 67.
