The Ice Bowl. Frigid weather conditions and a public transit strike did little to deter Montreal football fans from cheering on their beloved Alouettes against the Edmonton Eskimos in the 1977 Grey Cup game at Olympic Stadium. The Spalding official J5V CFL football Dalla Riva caught on a pass from Sonny Wade for the game's first touchdown is a fantastic highlight of this lot, which also includes the Montreal tight end's white Adidas "Super Bowl" cleats from the game. The football has stick-um clearly visible on it, particularly on one of its two white bands. Dalla Riva's size 11 1/2" cleats exhibit great wear, though they were not among the group of shoes that had staples famously applied to them by some other members of the Alouettes to gain traction on the glacial Olympic Stadium artificial turf. Examples of that handiwork are included among the 20 copies of color pictures surrounding the game that make up a fantastic 8 1/2" x 11" booklet from the 25th anniversary reunion of the championship team in September 2002. A 17" x 21" framed team photo of the Grey Cup champions is included, along with an original 1977 Grey Cup game program and a 30" x 36" team picture poster. This incredible collection comes along with Peter Dalla Riva's signed letter of authenticity.
