This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Highly coveted pair of leather bound editions features the last two volumes of author Charles L. Coleman's three-volume "The Trail of the Stanley Cup" hockey history commissioned by the National Hockey League. Offered here are Volume 2 and Volume 3 from the set, spanning the period that saw the Stanley Cup contested solely by NHL team beginning in 1927 right up to the end of the "Original Six" era in 1967. The edition of Volume 2 included here is numbered "247" in blue ink of a limited edition of 1,000 on the page with NHL commissioner Clarence Campbell's facsimile signature. A plastic slip surrounds the leather cover and the tome comes with the original NHL scroll indicating that it was presented to Robert L. Wolfson, the St. Louis Blues' original treasurer. The paper scroll has become detached from its glue on the inside cover and "Compliments of the Sid Salomons" is typed on a piece of paper with the NHL shield. Volume 3 offered here is stamped number 897 of 1,500. It comes with its original NHL 60th anniversary insert card with Campbell's facsimile signature. Both editions come with their original black casings.
