Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Fantastic felt crest highlights this well-preserved sweater dating back to the late-1920s or early-1930s. In near-perfect condition, the crest entwines the letters LMS above the smaller triple-A designation (could stand for Amateur Athletic Association). Flipping the blue wool sweater over reveals a classic number "9", also in thick felt. Reinforced elbows and the quality of the cresting suggests this uniform was meant for a team playing at a high level, perhaps a school or junior club. A tag is sewn into the inner tail but it not longer legible. A handful of smaller holes does not detract from the beauty of this wonderful wool.
