Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Only three players have scored more goals than Marcel Dionne over the entire history of the National Hockey League. Missing ten games during the 1977-78 season, Marcel would score only 36 goals and would then go on to score 50 or more for the next five seasons running! This jersey, worn by Marcel during 1977-78, is a Goodman's mesh in yellow with white and plum trimming. Individually-applied tackle twill letters in purple on white spell out "Dionne" above the two-tone number "16". A heavy-duty garter fight strap is sewn inside and the uniform is tagged in the hem by Goodman & Sons in size "44". Game wear on this well-washed example includes a few burns and stick marks with some areas of board paint transfer and a cross-work of five stitched team repairs patches up a damaged area on the lower front. A comprehensive package of authenticating documents from MeiGray Vintage including a letter of authenticity, a page of photographs and their certificate of registration.
