Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
With his team, the Hartford Whalers, eliminated from the after playoffs in six games in 1987, right winger Kevin Dineen packed his bags and headed over to Europe as a member of Team Canada for the 1987 World Ice Hockey Championships held at Vienna, Austria. Canada finished just out of the medals with a disappointing record of 0-2-1 in the championship round as Sweden took gold. Offered is Dineen's game-worn Team Canada uniform from the event, a red mesh affair tagged in the neck by Adidas in size XXL. Agfa sponsor patches have been sewn at the shoulders and Kevin's surname has been added to a plate in white knit letters. All numbers and the crest logo on the front are in a applied felt-like material and knit striping runs down both sleeves. Game wear is easy to spot with loads of black stick marks and board burns on the arms and lower front. We have conclusively photo matched the shirt to an action shot where a burn mark up near the numbers on the left arm appears in an action shot taken during the tournament. A digital copy of the image and match will accompany the lot.
