Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Truly a museum-worthy piece, offered here is an extremely rare original ticket stub from Game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the U.S.S.R. The holder of this ticket for the September 28, 1972 showdown at Moscow's Luzhniki Ice Palace certainly remembers where he/she was when Paul Henderson scored with 34 seconds left in the third period to give Canada a 6-5 win over the Soviets and secure global bragging rights. The 2 1/2" x 4" ticket stub itself displays a crisp nearly vertical tear along the left edge that leaves the "28" in the date printed on paper stock plainly visible. Nicely preserved between a pair of 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" Lucite slats held together by four screws and measuring a shade under 1-inch thick, it remains in excellent-plus condition, with no creases and only a small notch missing from the top edge to note. This rarely seen Game 8 ticket stub is a must for a serious Summit Series collection!
