This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
On Sunday, April 16, 1999 fans at the game at Madison Square Garden witnessed the end of an era as Wayne Gretzky laced up the skates for the last time. Matted at the bottom of this fantastic and colossal framed display is an 8" x 10" photo capturing the moment of Wayne's retirement as he hangs up his skates for the last time. Above, the bold blue pro-weight Rangers uniform, a replica of Wayne's jersey from the 1998-99 season, crested and numbered with "Gretzky" and his number "99" and signed across the back numbers "To Wess, Your Friend, Wayne Gretzky 99". Measuring 42 x 47 inches, the professionally-framed and double-matted shadow box also includes two Rangers shield-style pins and a descriptive plaque. In near mint condition.
