Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Extremely rare 1960-61 Shiriff souvenir hockey coin collection wood display board features the complete set of 120 color plastic coins. These extrememly scarce 24" x 28" wooden display boards were believed to have been presented to owners and managers of the six NHL teams by Shirriff as a token of appreciation for their participation in the promotion. This particular board belonged to the owner of the company that manufactured these beautifully presented display boards, which lists each of the "Original Six" teams' finely detailed painted lettering. A nick on the upper left corner and colour fading in some of the coins are the only flaws to note on this magnificent and ultra-rare display that offers an instant and unique way to acquire a complete set of the highly-sought 1960-61 Shirriff hockey coins.[red] Addendum; Please note that this board is actually 7/16 inches thick, that it is extremely scarce and one of only a couple of examples known in collectors hands and that the painted details are actually screened on the wood and that the coins are permanently affixed to the wood display board.[/red]
