Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
At 1:02 of the 2nd period during Game 5 of the 1979 Stanley Cup Finals, Jacques Lemaire found the twine for the second Habs marker, the game winning goal in the Canadiens' 4-1 decision over the New York Rangers to capture their fourth consecutive title. We are proud to present Montreal Canadiens star Rod Langway's original Stanley Cup Championship ring, presented by the team to commemorate his efforts in the victory over the Rangers in 1979. The Stanley Cup, sculpted in white gold, is set between four genuine diamonds and the years "76, 77, 78, 79" on the face of this jeweled masterpiece. Twenty two more sparkling gems are set into the sloping table walls. The left wing displays the words "Langway" and "Club de Hockey Canadien" above and below the polished Habs logo. The right wing reads "1979 NHL Champions, Coupe Stanley Cup". The interior of the band is stamped with the 10K and manufacturer's markings. Size 13, in near excellent condition. The accompanying letter of authenticity signed by Rod Langway testifies that this is the ring he has worn since the win in 1979. [red] Addendum; The interior of the band is stamped with the 14K and manufacturer's markings (Josten's) as well as Langway's engraved signature.[/red]
