Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The plot of the 1999 film release of Mystery, Alaska involves a publicity stunt that turns into the ultimate lopsided competition, as The New York Rangers reluctantly agree to an exhibition playoff against the Mystery, Alaska Eskimos. This attractive uniform, made for the film's star Russell Crowe (as John Biebe), is a style that was used in numerous scenes that did not make the final cut of the movie. The heavy knit by AK is tagged in the collar in size XXL and sports Biebe's name on the back and captain's "C" up on the left breast. Best is the west coast native design of the embroidered Eskimos crest at the chest. The jersey does show wear from on-ice action during the production including a number of stick marks and some light staining. Obtained from well-known sports memorabilia dealer Larry Pelliccioni of The Classic Stuff.
