Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
In 1920-21, the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds joined the Northern Ontario Hockey Association Senior "A" division. The team won the NOHA Championship that year and again in 1923, 1924 and 1925 and would win the Allan Cup in 1924. Boosted by the talents of future hockey Hall of Fame member Bill Cook, the team was a powerhouse. Bill, one of the famous hockey Cook brothers, would go on to play 475 games for the New York Rangers. This vintage trophy cup stands about 9" tall and the engraving tells the story: "Sault St. Marie Senior Champions, N.O.H.A. Winners from Inter O.H.A., William O. Cook, 1921". In very good condition with some finish loss and scratches. Originally obtained from the family of Bill Cook and will come with a letter of authenticity.
