Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Perfect Hawks jersey from the period when Stan Mikita, Tony Esposito and Keith Magnuson thrilled fans under the roof of the old Chicago Stadium. This example, issued to an unknown player was most likely an extra in the set. The "73" tag sewn into the lower hem denotes the 1973-74 season but we cannot find a roster listing a player wearing the number "28" that year. The shirt does show game wear including a couple of great red board paint transfers and two bullet-style team repairs. Wear could be from a pre-season tilt or perhaps the shirt was one of the jerseys passed down to the Portland Winter Hawks a few years later. The Wilson and Gunzo's tags are in the collar and a garter-style fight strap has been sewn into the tail. [red]Addendum: Jersey size is approximately 48.[/red]
