Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Before the Maple Leafs laid claim to 11 Stanley Cups, Toronto won its first two championships as members of the NHL in 1918 as the Arenas and again in 1922, this time as the St. Patricks. This outstanding photo of the 1921-22 Cup champion St. Pats shows Ted Stackhouse, Pat Nolan, George Smith, Corbett Denneny, Bill Stuart, John Ross Roach, Harry Cameron, Reg Noble, Babe Dye and Ken Randall lined up from left to right on the ice. The wide 7" x 17" original photo was studio mounted by McLean Photo Co. of Weston, Ontario, which is stamped on the lower right part of the grey matte that surrounds this remarkable print. The photo is presented in a 12 1/2" x 22 1/2" wood frame and the matte exhibits water lines on the top and bottom, though the print itself is in excellent condition, with a vertical crease through Denneny to note. This is a great opportunity to claim a great image from Toronto's early NHL and Stanley Cup history.
