Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Fantastic gold ring commemorates the Toronto Maple Leafs' return to hockey supremacy in the spring of 1962. The Leafs defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Black Hawks in 6 games to capture the Cup for the first time in 11 years, with Dick Duff having the distinction of scoring the Cup-winner. Presented to a member of the Leafs' front office, the stirring memento features a big cubic zircon set in a maple leaf on the front. Surrounding them are the words Torontonians were able to brag about for three consecutive years starting in '62: "Stanley Cup Champions." One side features two small maple leaves, "Toronto" and "62" while an image of Lord Stanley's precious trophy adorns the other. Stamped "Birks 10K" on the interior of the band, the size 11 1/2 ring has been preserved in outstanding condition and shows just minor wear. From a special time in franchise history and deserving of a special home. Please note that this item is subject to a silent reserve.
