Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Ah, blue pucks! They weren't around very long and to this day remain some of the most sought after WHA memorabilia. These four blue game pucks produced by the American Biltrite company have no cuts, nicks or slices to report. The lot includes a pair of Minnesota Fighting Saints and one Winnipeg Jets B1 slugs and an Edmonton Oilers B2 slug, distinguished by the "Official Canada Officiel" marking on its dimpled side as opposed to the three others, which have no markings on the side. All four pucks feature Biltrite's distinctive "Made in Canada" in raised letters across one face, with the lettering through the screened team logos on the three B1 slugs. The B2 Oilers slug has the raised lettering through the WHA logo screened on the other side which has some surface loss on the left side. The Oilers logo on the face is whole and intact. The Jets logo is nearly perfect, with a tiny bit of surface loss at the very bottom, while the WHA logo on the reverse is pristine, the best of the lot. The cresting on one of the Fighting Saints pucks is virtually fully intact on both sides, while the other puck exhibits a little surface loss on both the team crest and league logo.
