Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
All-Star goalie Norm Defelice received this gold ring as a member of the 1961-62 Clinton Comets, which claimed the Eastern Hockey League regular season title with a 45-22-1 mark. The Comets fell short in the postseason, though, as the Johnstown Jets claimed the playoff title. Defelice, who stepped in to play 10 games with the Boston Bruins in 1956-57 when Terry Sawchuk was hospitalized for nervous exhaustion, dominated the EHL in goal throughout the early-1960s, winning the George L. Davis Trophy as the league's stingiest goalie six of seven seasons, from 1959 to 1965. Gold championship ring features a blue stone set in the face with "Clinton Comets" in raised letters on the upper bezel, "19" and "62" on either side, and "Champions" along the bottom. The "EHL" engraved on each shank is very faded on this well-worn championship ring, a size 9 with "10K" stamped inside the band. Comes with an LOA.
