Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
On October 30, 1975 at Boston Garden, Johnny Bucyk poked the puck past a sprawling Yves Bélanger of the St. Louis Blues and the victorious Bruins took the two points as the game ended with a score of 3-2. This was the 500th NHL regular season goal of Johnny Bucyk's career, scored in his 1,370th game. Only six players before him had reached this plateau, including teammate Phil Esposito the previous season, Frank Mahovlich, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Jean Béliveau and the great Maurice Richard. Bucyk retrieved the milestone puck from behind Bélanger's crease and it has been respectfully mounted on a sheet of aluminum emblazoned with the image of the famous marker above the headline, "John Bucyk's 500th Goal vs. St. Louis, 10-30-75". In excellent condition, framed to a finished size of 17x23 inches. Hockey history! From the personal collection of Johnny Bucyk with his signed letter of authenticity.
