Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Ted Kennedy's signed 1950 letter to Conn Smythe and six Hockey Hall of Fame guest passes individually signed by Teeder are featured in this incredible lot of autographs from the late Maple Leafs legend's personal collection. Happy Day signed two 1955 letters to Kennedy on MLG letterhead and Clarence Campbell signed a 1960 letter on NHL letterhead that he had copied to Kennedy. Maple Leafs 1945 playoff hero Frank McCool signed simply "Frank" his 1960 letter to Kennedy. Teeder personalized his signature on the bottom of the nicely detailed matte photo sleeve that holds his 7" x 5" vintage print. Horner, Kennedy, Meeker, Bower, Sittler and Joseph signed in pencil beneath their respective names at the bottom of a 26" x 20" litho. Artist Rob MacDougall signed this artist's proof number 118 of 175. Kennedy, Meeker and Lynn signed in blue Sharpie marker on a 15 1/2" x 1 3/4" print of the Kid Line II. Kennedy and Bodnar each signed both of two 8" x 10" modern prints of Bodnar receiving the Calder Trophy from NHL President Red Dutton. Boxing greats Dempsey and Tunney surround Tim Daly in a much-handled vintage 6 1/2" x 8" Turofsky print that the longtime Leafs trainer signed for Kennedy. Among the couple of dozen pieces of correspondence received by Kennedy is a letter from an acquaintance in the aviation field who attached a copy of the Canadian department of transport's 1952 report on its investigation into the disappearance of Bill Barilko's plane.
