The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This lot of original Canadian boxing paperwork includes several items associated with Clyde Gray, including his original blue ink signature on a blank State of California boxer’s license renewal application form from the late 1960s, as per the reference in the upper right corner to future U.S. President Ronald Reagan as the state’s governor. Gray was a Canadian welterweight contender throughout the 1970s and had a career professional record of 69-10-1, losing each of his three world title bouts. His original signature appears on eight of the 19 items in this lot, which also includes his late 1970s cards from the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority and the Edmonton Boxing and Wrestling Commission. Contracts for fights in Montreal against Donato Paduano and Pipino Cuevas in Puerto Rico are included along with a number of other contracts and boxing documents from the collection of promoter Irving Ungerman.
