The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
A member of the Toronto Maple Leafs' first Stanley Cup championship team in 1932, Joe Primeau teamed up with Charlie Conacher and Harvey "Busher" Jackson to form the famed "Kid Line" that dominated the NHL throughout the early to mid-1930s. Jackson and Primeau finished the 1931-32 season first and second in scoring, respectively, with Conacher fourth overall, just one point behind Montreal's Howie Morenz. Primeau autographed and personalized in blue ink this outstanding portrait of himself painted by artist Carleton "Mac" McDiarmid, indicating that he signed it at Toronto's Royal York Hotel of August 25, 1977. The artist has signed this one-of-a-kind work "Mac" on its original 13" x 15 1/2" professional illustration board.
