This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
The original Ottawa Senators won the city’s last Stanley Cup in 1927. The Senators were the most successful NHL team in the early days of the league with four Cups from 1920 to 1927, including three in four years. Frank Finnigan, who had his jersey No. 8 retired when the modern franchise returned the city to the NHL in 1992, as part of the original franchise’s fourth and final win before the Depression forced the team to move to St. Louis in 1933 before folding one year later. This beautifully mounted photo and autograph tribute is presented in a 23” x 24” wood frame. A “Skate marks on ice” silver matte with red accent surrounds a black and white photo montage of the 1926-27 Senators that refers to the team as, “Ottawa Hockey Association - Champions of the World, Holders of Stanley Cup, O’Brien and Prince of Wales Trophies”. The display also includes a photo of the Model T carrying Frank Nighbor in the team’s victory parade and an original Finnigan autograph in black ink.
