This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Trio of vintage photo postcards dating back to the first decade of the 1900s all relating to the donator of the supreme prize in professional hockey, the Stanley Cup. 1) Matte finish photo portrait postcard of the “Earl of Derby”, Frederick Arthur Stanley circa 1905. 2) Glossy photo with postcard back picturing a ceremonial delegation including Lord Stanley positioned at the center on the balcony. Quite possibly an image from the 1902 Preston Guild with Stanley presiding as Mayor. 3) Glossy photo card with postcard back picturing the memorial burial site of Lord Stanley with title reading “Memorial in Liverpool cathedral to Frederick, 16th Earl of Derby”. Probably produced shortly after Stanley’s death in 1908. Overall, the three are in excellent condition.
