The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008

The cuffs of both gloves in this pair of Easton Air Gloves leave no doubt as to their original owner: “Yzerman”. The Detroit Red Wings won three Stanley Cups under Steve Yzerman’s leadership, including consecutive wins in 1997 and 1998, and another in 2002. The longtime Red Wings captain wore these size 13 ½” red and white Easton Air gauntlets that exhibit nice wear in the palms during the latter stages of his Hall of Fame career with Detroit. Yzerman’s
155 points in 1988-89 remain the most by any player other than Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. Though he never reached that plateau again in the regular season after his sixth straight 100-point season in 1992-93, Stevie Y became an outstanding two-way player later in his career and still contributed 24 points to the Red Wings’ 1998 Cup run and 23 in the 2002 playoffs. Great gloves for excellent hands.
