The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Despite a 35-40-5 regular season – Montreal’s first losing record since 1950-51, the Canadiens took off in the playoffs and made it to the Wales Conference final, where they won the first two games before losing the next four to the New York Islanders. New head coach Jacques Lemaire, GM Serge Savard and goalie coach Jacques Plante instilled old-fashioned Canadiens pride and Bobby Smith, Chris Chelios, Steve Penney and Mike McPhee contributed to the likes of Gainey, Robinson, Lafleur, Wamsley, Sevigny, Naslund, Mondou, Nilan, Carbonneau, Tremblay, Hunter, Shutt, Walter, Ludwig, Green, Nattress and Root along with fellow newcomers Alfie Turcotte, Normand Baron, Kent Carlson, John Chabot, Jean Hamel and Perry Turnbull. This original David Bier studio print presented to assistant coach Jacques Laperriere measures 13 ¼” x 9 ½” and remains in excellent condition. The photo is affixed to its original white matte titled, “Club de Hockey Canadien 1983-84” and listing the players’ names at the bottom. The photo is mounted in a 22 ¼” x 20” gold-colored metal frame and presented in a two-tone grey and red matte, that has four square tape residue marks at each of the four corners of the grey matte. A fantastic photo of a plucky Canadiens playoff effort, this fantastic photo comes along with Jacques Laperriere’s signed letter of authenticity.
