The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Talk about a simpler time, this is Jacques Laperriere’s original handwritten first Montreal Canadiens contract. Signed by Laperriere and Canadiens GM Frank Selke, the handwritten agreement on a personalized 5” x 7” sheet of Selke’s letterhead is titled simply, “Jacques Laperriere”. Dated September 16, 1963, it indicates a basic salary of $8,000 with a $1,000 bonus if Laperriere played the entire season, another $1,000 if the Canadiens finished first, and $750 (with $1,000 crossed out and intialed by Laperriere) if they finish second. This remarkable document is creased from being folded into eighths and presented in its vintage 6” x 8” black and gold plastic frame. Clearly a keepsake with strong meaning to the Hall of Fame defenceman, it comes along with Jacques Laperriere’s signed letter of authenticity.
